The executive of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Ijebu-Ode Local Government chapter, Ogun State, has been dissolved.

Confirming this to P.M.NEWS, Vice chairman of the council, Comrade Abiola Oropo described the dissolution as ill-timed.

According to oropo, “we felt that things have to change. Ijebu-Ode is the headquarters of the Ijebus but we are lagging behind in youth development because the leadership of the council has failed. We held three general meetings in Itoro and it was fully attended by concerned youths across Ijebu Ode.

”At the end of the day, it was moved that the executive be dissolved and it was supported unanimously. They have sent us packing and I believe those that are serious, ready to work and committed may return, if they obtain form. An electoral committee has been set up and they have swung into action.”

Some members accused the leadership of the dissolved executive of being ineffective while loyalists said they did their best. “Odunsi did his best, though, he does not listen to some of us, but all of us must be blamed and not Odunsi alone,” Oropo said.

A five-man electoral committee has been set up to organise another congress to elect new executive officers for the youths in the area. The committee has Comrade Mustapha Olugbile as the Chairman and Comrade Azeez Olujimi as the Secretary. They have one month to conduct another election.
