Man Docked For 419

A man, Kingsley Sampson, 34 and three others have been arraigned before the Cele Magistrate’s Court, Isolo, Lagos for fraudulently obtaining N225,000 from Blessing Francis under the pretence of purchasing chemicals to wash money.

The accused persons were alleged to have conspired to commit felony, to wit, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.

They were docked on a three-count charge punishable under sections 516, 419 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.38, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2004.

Count three of the charge reads: “That you, Kingsley Sampson and three others at large on 7 February, 2011 on Alhaji Olakunle Street, Ijeshatedo in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire to commit felony, to wit, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.38, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2004.”

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. C.T. Adesola Ikpatt granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

The case has been adjourned till 17 March, 2011 for trial.
