Nkiru told an Agege Customary Court, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria that she is seeking the dissolution of her 20-year old marriage in order to put a stop to this.

Hearing of the petition commenced in 2008 but the court gave the parties a long adjournment to enable them resolve their differences but the petitioner came to court and told the president, Mrs. E.B. Shokunle, that nothing has changed since the last adjournment, accusing her husband of refusing to change from his immoral ways.

She also accused him of being selfish and always beating her.

“I bought the motorcycle he is using for commercial transport with my son’s education savings. I even paid five years rent in advance. For that five years, my husband did not save a kobo from his Okada business.

“I made enquiries among Okada riders and I discovered that some riders deliver between N4,000 and N5,000 weekly to the owners. I told my husband to start delivering N2,000, after all the business is ours. Later, I discovered that he was spending his money on his female friends.

“He will come back and tell me Fashola has spoilt everything and that there is no money in Okada business and that those riding Okada on the streets of Lagos were not making any money,” she told the court.

In his response, the defendant denied the allegations. He explained that he was not making much money in the business because he was using the motorcycle to carry his son to school everyday and also help his wife do some household chores.

After listening to the parties, the court ordered the husband to live peacefully and responsibly with the petitioner until the next adjourned date,  20 April, for further hearing.
