Buhari, Bakare Keep Supporters Waiting

Thousands of supporters in Minna, Niger State, who wanted to catch a glimpse of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buarhi and his running mate, Pastor Tunde Bakare, were disappointed as they did not arrive at the campaign ground several hours on Thursday.

The CPC chieftains were expected to kick-start the CPC presidential campaign for the North Central zone comprising Niger, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Benue and Plateau states.

Prominent politicians who thronged the venue from 10 a.m. include Alhaji Balarabe Musa, Alhaji Inuwa Jubril, a member of House of the Representatives and Solomon Iwuga.

Because of the scorching sun, sachet water sold for N10 or N20 a sachet.

When Gen. Buhari arrived at about 5.30 p.m, he apologised to the supporters, explaining that he left Kaduna at 5 a.m. but he had to make stop overs in Suleja, Agale and Bida to pay homage to the emirs.

But CPC supporters who wanted to meet Pastor Bakare were disappointed as he was not presented to them at the rally.

Gen. Buhari later visited Gen. Babangida at his Hilltop mansion in Minna where they held a closed door meeting.
