CAN Pledges Support For Hon. Akande
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ikeja- Ojodu Chapter has assured the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) that it will mobilise members of the association to vote for the party during the April elections.
This was part of the resolution of the association when the Deputy Chief Whip of Lagos State House of Assembly Hon. Lola Akande representing Ikeja Constituency paid a visit to the clerics in Lagos.
Members of the association explained that they also mobilised to register during the exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, adding that it was part of their responsibility to do so.
They tasked the lawmaker to address some of the problems facing the constituency and ensure that the association was adequately represented in decision making.
Earlier, Hon. Akande on her part said her visit was to receive the blessings of the clerics and also to seek re-election.
According to her, “CAN is very important and that is why I have come here to receive your blessing and prayers.
“I will not be disappointed again because during my first term you stood by me and all prayers were answered.
Meanwhile Hon. Akande, says she would relentlessly pursue and sustain efforts to alleviate poverty for the development of the state through her pet project, Lola Akande Education Foundation.
She made the pledge during a courtesy visit to the Palace of Olu of Ikeja, Oba Adeniyi Matemi Amore recently.
Akande also vowed to pursue the welfare of traditional rulers in the constituency to strengthen the relationship between traditional rulers and government. She added that she would continue to rededicate herself “to the politics of strengthening the foundation of the stateâ€.
Oba Amore who pledged to support her said: “We have seen people in the past that represented Ikeja in the Lagos State House of Assembly who did not do anything for the people but Hon. Akande has performed wonderfully well to deserve another term.†The Oba however, implored Akande to improve more on infrastructure in the constituency including the creation of more secondary schools for the people of Ikeja.
