The far-reaching reforms initiated by Alhaji Abdulahi Dikko, the Comptroller-General of Customs, to reposition the service have caught the fancy of Barrister Ada Akpunonu , the Vice-Chairman of the Tin can chapter of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents(ANLCA).
Barrister Akpunonu, while reviewing the sweeping changes in the customs operations, praised the visionary qualities of the Customs boss which she agreed has raised the efficiency and profficiency of the service that has led to enhanced service delivery at the port.
“Unarguably, Dikko is the best CG that would ever come out of Customs. He has initiated series of programmes that have improved the service delivery of Customs and equally raised the condition of service of the officers. He has so much raised the bar  that his successor would have a problem equalling his legacies, let alone surpassing them,” the ANLCA chief enthused.
Barrister Akpononu further observed that never before had the officers and men of the Customs had it so good in terms of their raised morale which has shot through the roof, excellent working conditions, enhanced pay packets which have been doubled, improved knowledge through constant trainings locally and abroad and other palliatives that have restored the hitherto sagging morale of the officers.
“We agents too have caught the vision of the Customs CG as we have keyed in to the sweeping changes in the system. The customs high chief ensured that we are adequately trained in the modern customs operations that will enhance our job,” she disclosed.
