A Lagos lawmaker, Hon. Sikiru Adebanjo representing Epe Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly has decamped from the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to the Labour Party in order to achieve his desire to serve a second term as a lawmaker in the state House of Assembly.

The lawmaker who spoke with Assembly Matters in his office at the Assembly complex attributed his defection to the LP to denial of his mandate by the ACN at the primaries.

According to him, “People voted for me at the primaries and I later discovered that they have given the ticket to another person and I will not allow them to control my destiny.

“If I defected to PDP and at the end of the day and I won, people would think I know people in the party but I have the support of the people in LP,” he said.

The lawmaker said that he was very much on ground to tackle the ACN candidate in his constituency at the April poll.

“I believe that LP would make a statement. In fact, I even told my opponent to borrow money from the World Bank to compete with me during the election because I know I would beat him,” he added.
