The leaders of forty registered Political parties in Nigeria have criticized the local government election timetable released by the Rivers state Electoral Commission, RSIEC.
The opposition political parties at the end of a meeting in Port Harcourt wondered why the Rivers State Electoral Commission has scheduled the local Government election for April 23 of this year almost the same period with the general election.
Spokesman of the parties, Alaye Harry accused RSIEC of fixing the date to suit the ruling Peoples Political Party, PDP.
To ensure that there is no undue advantage given to PDP, the opposition political parties called for a shift of the poll date.
