A teacher in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, Mrs. Kemi Oremakinde, has asked the Alimosho Grade ‘B’ Customary Court in Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos to dissolve her marriage to her husband, Mr. Aliu Oremakinde.
The mother of two stated in her petition that the dissolution was necessary because her husband, a conductor, threw her out of her matrimonial home since November 2010.
The petitioner told the court that she was no longer interested in the union because her husband no longer caters for her needs and her childrenâ€
Mrs. Oremakinde complained to the court that her husband no longer pays the school fees of her children, Mariam, 8 and Abeeb, 4 years old.
The petitioner told the court that before she was thrown out of her husbandâ€
She prayed the court to grant her custody of her children who are presently with their fatherâ€
Furthermore, she informed the court that due to the incomplete payment of her childrenâ€
The husband, who did not object to his wifeâ€
In her remarks, the president of the court, Mrs. Adetunji advised the couple to think about their childrenâ€
She then adjourned the case till 21 March.
