Nations Cup Qualifier Against Ethiopia: Two Home-Based Players Make Team

Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia shocked soccer loving Nigerians today as he named two home based players to prosecute this month’s 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.

The two domestic players are Chibuzor Okonkwo of Heartland and Ehiosun Ekigho of Warri Wolves, who scored on his debut for the Super Eagles in an international friendly against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, Nigeria.

Making a surprise return into the team after missing the South Africa 2010 World Cup as a result of injury is Real Zaragoza’s Ikechukwu Uche.

A.C Milan of Italy player, Nnamdi Odumadi was also handed a chance to prove his mettle in the new look team.

Other players that made the squad are :

Vincent Enyeama, Dele Aiyenugba, Adefemi Olubayo, Taye Taiwo, Elderson Echiejile, Joseph Yobo, Dele Adeleye, Efe Ambrose, Mikel Obi, Obiora Nwankwo, Joel Obi, Fengor Ogude, Nnamdi Oduamadi, Kalu Uche, Ahmed Musa, Osaze Odemwingie, Victor Anichebe, Peter Utaka, Obinna Nsofor, Solomon Okoronkwo and Obafemi Martins.
