Two Docked Over N3.9m Fraud

Two men, Celestine Nwako and Abuchi Okoyo on Wednesday appeared before an Ebute Metta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly swindling their victim of N3.9 million.

Nwako, 62, and Okoyo, 30, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Eshiet Offong told the court that the men on Aug. 12, 2010, allegedly obtained Aluminum sheets valued at N3.9 million from one Oliver Ugwu at the Aluminum Village, Dopemu, Lagos.

Offong said that the accused collected the goods with a promise to pay after selling the goods, “a representation they knew to be false.”

The prosecutor said that after the goods exchanged hands, the accused disappeared until they were arrested by the police.

He said that the offence allegedly committed contravened Sections 390, 419 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
