PMNEWS gathered today that he was killed on Sunday 6 March 2011 at about 8:45am.
Narrating the incident, the elder brother of the deceased, Mr. Chijioke Ibekwe said that his younger brother invited him last Saturday evening to come home and worship with him at his new parish in Mbaise which he promised him that he would attend, pointing out he became uncomfortable when he got to the church on Sunday morning around 8:25am only for his brother to be absent in the service.
Mr. Ibekwe who resides in Owerri Municipal said that he became so worried about his brother’s absence that he had to stay till the end of the service.
According to him, “after the service, I rushed home only to see a crowd in our compound. I thought that one of our age mothers had died but I was shocked to see my own younger brother,
Pastor Chibuzor Ibekwe soaked in his own blood in our parlour. The assassins tied his hands and strangled.”
Mr. Ibekwe who has to stop speaking to fight back tears maintained that: “my younger brother was never involved in politics and he hardly offended people, everybody in our community loved him because of his uprightness and kindness.
“I immediately alerted the police at Ahiazu-Mbaise. Iâ€
Pastor Ibekwe who owns a big fish pond in his community until his death was the Pastor in-charge of Winners Chapel Emekuku before he was transferred to Pastor Ahiazu Mbaise Parish.
As of the time of going to press, the remains of Pastor Chibuzor Ibekwe has been deposited at Holy Rosary Hospital Morgue Ogbor, Nguru Aboh Mbaise by the Ahiazu Mbaise Police Division as Police Officers from D2 State police force headquarters are investigating the case.
