Police Confirm 3 Dead, 6 Houses Burnt In Bauchi

The police command in Bauchi State has confirmed that three persons were killed and six mud houses burnt in a fresh crisis in Tafawa Balewa town.

The Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Indabawa, told newsmen in Bauchi on Thursday that around 6.20 a.m. on Thursday, the divisional police officer called to inform him about an attack in the town by unknown persons.

He said that the police drafted a team of army and mobile policemen to the area and chased away the attackers promptly before any serious damage was done.

Indabawa added that the three persons killed were among the attackers and that they were burnt beyond recognition.

“The persons killed are from the attackers and they were burnt beyond recognition so I cannot say exactly who they were,” he said.

The commissioner explained that he got information about another attack in a nearby village to Tafawa Balewa, called Gital, but that he would travel to the village to confirm.

However, some residents of the village who escaped to Bauchi on Thursday, said most of their houses in the village were burnt down.
