Ruggedman To Anchor Star Quest
Award winning hip hop artiste, Michael Ugochukwu Stephens popularly called Ruggedman has been chosen by Nigerian Breweries Plc, manufacturers of Star Lager beer, as 2011 host of Star Quest. His selection is in tandem with the Star Quest tradition, which had, since inception in 2002, been anchored by a Nigerian superstar music act.
The trio of Paul Play Dairo, acclaimed R & B crooner, Freeze, popular radio personality and KC of KC Presh, winners of the first edition of Star Quest, have also been selected as judges for this year’s edition of the popular music talent hunt contest.
As judges, they are saddled with the task of pruning the large number of applicants who are expected to besiege audition venues for a chance to participate in Star Quest, down to 36 who will ultimately compete at the Fameland.
Even though the grand prize winners will be determined by the public who will vote their preferred musical bands via sms, the judges will play a vital role in determining which band gets to the final.
According to Mr. Yusuf Ageni, Nigerian Breweries Corporate Affairs Adviser, the choice of Ruggedman as anchor of the show and Paul Play, Freeze and KC as judges is geared towards raising the bar of Star Quest as Nigeria’s best music talent hunt competition.
