An ACN candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Sultan Adeniji-Adele, has urged journalists to ensure that only credible politicians are elected in the April polls.

Adeniji-Adele, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos, that the role of the media was critical to the success of the elections.

The ACN candidate is contesting for the Amuwo-Odofin Constituency I seat in the assembly.

“The role of the media in the forthcoming elections cannot be over-emphasised because it is only through credible reports that the public can make informed choices,” he said.

He said that journalists should go the extra mile to get the truth about the personalities aspiring for public office in order to enlighten the public.

“It is through the media that the public knows what is going on in the country. If a journalist’s report is biased, it will have an adverse effect on the society.

“Journalists should file credible reports about candidates and should not allow themselves to be used as a political tool by some unscrupulous politicians,” Adeniji-Adele said.

The ACN candidate advised journalists to shun desperate politicians and help enthrone good governance in the country.

“Journalists should resist these devious politicians, because they have a way of painting themselves as selfless and upright,” he said.
