Woman Slashes Neighbour’s Face With Razor

Quick Read

Ada, who was arrested along with her younger sister, Esther Ejemofor, was alleged to have ambushed Mrs. Chika Ocha on her way to the office and lacerated her face with razor before help could come her way.

A housewife, Ada Jerry has been arrested by the police in Lagos State Southwest Nigeria for allegedly using a razor blade to slash her neighbour’s face.

Ada, who was arrested along with her younger sister, Esther Ejemofor, was alleged to have ambushed Mrs. Chika Ocha on her way to the office and lacerated her face with a razor before help could come her way.

It was alleged that her sister, Esther tied Chika’s hands while her eldest sister used a razor to slash Chika’s face.

After the incident, they escaped and were later arrested by the police.

The incident happened at Adewale Adenuga Street, Ejigbo, Lagos very close to Chika’s place of work. But both the victim and the defendants reside at 40 Yusuf Street, Ejigbo, Lagos.

The cause of the fight P.M.NEWS gathered was a long-time rivalry between Chika and Ada which their husbands have tried to settle but could not succeed.

As a way of making peace after a previous fight, Chika’s husband promised to pay Ada N3,000 to treat herself. But he could only provide N2,000 and promised to pay the balance the next day.

When Chika heard that her husband paid the money and wanted to pay additional N1,000, she prevented him from doing so.

This angered Ada who arranged with her sister, Esther, bought a new razor and ambushed Chika and tore her face.

Ada and Esther were charged to Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court with conspiracy and inflicting grievous injury on the victim.

The police prosecutor said the offence is contrary to Sections 516 and 388 of the Criminal Code Cap 17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2003.

When the charge was read to them, Ada told the court that she does not understand English Language and preferred that the charge be read to her in Igbo language.

Consequently, the trial Magistrate, Mrs S. O. Solebo, gave a short adjournment to enable the court to look for an interpreter. But they were ordered to be remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos.
