Yola Residents Laud Jonathan, Buhari

Residents of Yola have commended supporters of PDP and CPC over peaceful conduct of the parties respective presidential campaign rallies held the same day in the town.

 

 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Goodluck Jonathan and retired Maj Gen. Muhammadu Buhari held their rallies at different locations in Yola town on Thursday.

 

While that of Jonathan took place at Ribadu Square that of Buhari was held at an open space along Numan Road.

 

A cross section of people, who spoke on the development expressed satisfaction that no clash was experienced by supporters of the two parties in spite of the influx of people from across the state.

 

“In fact, I thought there is going to be a show down because of the popularity of the two candidates and the influx of their supporters but everything went well.

 

“I think supporters of the two parties and security agents deserve commendation for the development,’’ Sabo Ibrahim, a civil servant said.

 

Yohanna Ishaku, a university student, also lauded the peaceful conduct of the rallies and urged the people of the state, particularly politicians to sustain the tempo throughout the election period
