NPA, NIMASA Ordered To Explain Fire Incident

The Marine Board of Inquiry has ordered Nigeria Ports Authority NPA and Nigerian Maritime Adminstration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, to come together and put up a joint preliminary report on the fire incident involving a fishing trawler MV Zahra, on or before Thursday 17 March, 2011

The order was issued on the 10 March by Chief Magistrate Nureni Kuranga, the chairman and president of the Marine Board of Inquiry. So far, the board has met twice.

The DG NIMASA was represented by the Executive Director, Maritime and Safety Shipping Development, Mr Shekarau Ishaku.

Ishaku commend the efforts of the President of the board for giving his best to the assignment.

The board adjourned sitting till Thursday 17 March when it would meet again and visit the site of the incident.
