The National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN) on Tuesday urged Federal Government to expand the scope of Export Expansion Grant (EEG) scheme to attract genuine investors to non-oil export sector.
Mr. Olatunji Owoeye, President of the association made the call in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Owoeye also called for a review of the scheme to achieve more.
He said that Nigeria’s quest of becoming one of the 20 leading economies by 2020 depended largely on the non-oil export sector.
Owoeye said that there was need for a law to regulate activities in the sector.
He urged Federal Government to put in place measures to guide against what led to the ban earlier placed on the scheme.
The president also advised government that only genuine exporters should benefit from the scheme.
