Driver Abandons N1.6m Goods On Express Road

A 20-year old driver, Gambo Musa, has been arraigned before the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting at Ogudu, Lagos on a three-count charge of unlawful damage to property and stealing 69 rolls of ‘pure water’ nylon, valued at N1.6m.

Police prosecutor, ASP Eyo Owai, alleged that the accused abandoned some rolls of the ‘pure water’ nylon along Ibadan-Ilesha expressroad and stole 69 rolls, valued at N1.6m, property of Sabo Best Water Company, Lagos.

The offences are punishable under sections 249, (d) 451 and 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol. 11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

When the charges were read to him, he pleaded not guilty and the trial magistrate, Mrs. Aje Afunwa, admitted him on bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties who must produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government.

The case has been adjourned till 25 March, 2011 for mention.
