Lawmaker Advocates Safety For Okada Riders

The lawmaker representing Ifako-Ijaye Constituency1 at the Lagos House of Assembly, Mr. Dayo Saka Fafunmi, has donated 100 crash helmets to commercial motorcycle operators popularly called okada riders, in his constituency.

Fafunmi, who recently promised to empower graduates of his computer training institute, described the gesture as important in the lives of the riders as safety of their lives depended on them, government and various stakeholders in the society.

Tasking the government and individuals of means to be committed to the security of lives and property as well as welfare of the common man, the lawmaker said “this donation made today is to complement the state government’s effort and challenge both corporate bodies and individuals to contribute to nation building towards ensuring that the life of an average Lagosian is safe and secured.

“My passion and vision is to make my constituency safer, secured and a positive reference point in the comity of electoral districts in Lagos State.

“The most precious thing in the life of every man is his life as every other thing is fleeting and frail. This underscores the importance of security and safety of lives and property in any given society.”

While enjoining them to vote for the ACN in order to sustain the pace at which the Babatunde Fashola-led government was developing the state, Fafunmi promised to donate reflective jackets to the okada riders.

Present at the event was the ACN candidate for the House of Representatives in Ifako-Ijaye, Otunba Yomi Ogunnusi, who advised the riders to be safety conscious. He admonished them to obey traffic rules and regulations, as he made financial donation to them.
