Mama Adesanya Goes Home Saturday

The deceased wife of former Afenifere leader, the late Pa Abraham Adesanya, Mama Rosanna Arinola, will be buried on Saturday at 7, Adesanya Road, Oke Agbo, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria.

Mrs. Adesanya, 86 died at the family’s Lagos residence, 15, Abraham Adesanya Way, Apapa, Lagos on Friday, 4 March, 2011 after a brief illness.

Important dignitaries, including President Goodluck Jonathan, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State have called at the Apapa residence of the Adesanyas to pay tribute to Mama Adesanya and condole with the children.

According to a burial programme released by the family, Mama Adesanya’s journey home begins on Thursday with a service of songs at 15, Adesanya Road, Apapa, at 5 p.m.

On Friday, there will be a commendation service at the African Church Cathedral Bethel, 59, Broad Street, Lagos, to be followed by lying-in-state at 7, Adesanya Road, Ijebu Igbo. A Christian wake will also hold at the same venue from 5 to 7 p.m.

On Saturday, a funeral service will hold at St. John’s African Church, Oke Agbo, Ijebu-Igbo at 10 a.m.

The late Mama Adesanya is survived by four children, including Hon. Adebayo Adesanya, a former Supervisory Councillor in Apapa Local Government Area of Lagos State and Mrs. Dupe Adelaja, a former Minister of Defence, Navy, during the first term of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
