A man identified as Baba Tope, a bricklayer and an Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN supporter, was reportedly shot dead today in Owo, while two others who sustained injuries have been hospitalised.
They were attacked by thugs suspected to be members of the Labour Party, LP, in Amosugbo Quarters, Ido Ani near Owo, Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria.
According to the ACN Chairman in Ondo State, Mrs. Jumoke Anifowoshe, the attack by the LP supporters was unprovoked but they have been boasting that they would chase ACN supporters out of Ondo State.
Mrs. Anifowoshe warned the LP supporters that no one has a monopoly of violence
The ACN chairman said the LP supporters also attacked ACN members in Agbowa-Akoko in Idanre Local Government. Six persons were wounded while one person was shot in Ireakari.
Some ACN members who sustained injuries during the attack on the party’s headquarters at the state capital, Akure, were taken to the Federal Medical Centre for treatment.
Mrs. Anifowoshe said no amount of intimidation or harassment can stamp out the ACN in Ondo State.
She reiterated her call on the police in the state to investigate the attacks on the ACN supporters and punish the culprits accordingly.
