Teenager Arrested For Destroying PDP Billboard
A 13-year old boy, Muhammad Buhari of Nasarawa in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State, was arrested and detained yesterday for hours by the police for allegedly destroying a billboard of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Supporters of the PDP in the area had lodged a complaint at the Minna Central Police Station alleging that the teenager destroyed their billboard.
They called for his arrest and investigation as they believed the boy was sent by the opposition.
Two policemen arrested the teenager and interrogated him for hours before his brother bailed him.
Muhammad known as Baba Mato, who stood in for the boy at the police station said he was asked to fix the billboard and he was advised to warn his brother not to go near any PDP property again.
Police officers at the station confirmed the arrest but described the case as a misunderstanding between two groups.
Also speaking to P.M.NEWS, an uncle to Muhammad Buhari confirmed the arrest and release of the boy.
“We are not politicians, we don’t have a political party. I was shocked when I was told my son was arrested,†Danjuma said.
Residents of Nasarawa were also angry over the arrest of Buhari who they described as innocent and a school boy who didn’t know anything about politics.
