More than two hundred and forty supporters of the former Minister of State for Interior, Demola Seriki, have decamped from the People’s Democratic Party of Nigeria, PDP, to the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.
The ceremony took place at Ward E3, Olushi Street, off Evans Street, Lagos Island.
The decampees, P.M.NEWS gathered, decided to move to the ACN following the disagreement their leader had with a convicted chieftain of PDP in Lagos State, Chief Olabode George.
The leader of the decampees, Mr. Azeez Bakare, told P.M.NEWS that they decamped to the ACN because they were sidelined in the scheme of things in PDP. “We have to decamp to the ACN because we were marginalised in PDP and because the leaders couldn’t settle the rift between Bode George and our leader, Demola Seriki. Bode George was always taking sides with members of his group to the detriment of others.
”Bode George also accused Seriki of fraternising with the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Bakare stated.
Other big PDP chieftains who decamped were Mr. Adewale Bakare, a.k.a. Sama, Mr. Kazeem Jimoh, also known as Kazo and Mr. Lateef Abiola.
ACN chieftains who graced the occasion include Yakub Balogun, the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives; Hon. Wale Alawiye-King, a member of the State House of Assembly; Vice Chairman of Lagos Island East LCDA, Hon. Kehinde Asekun; Olori Eleyo of Lagos, Chief Kabiru Adeshina Oshodi and the Kakawa branch Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Lagos Island, Alhaji Mustapha Sego.
