Top music acts, DJ Zeez, 2face Idibia, Darey, Weird MC, Saheed Osupa, Sound Sultan, Banky W and P-Square, recently put up a spectacular performance at a show organised to garner support for the second term quest of Governor Babatunde Fashola.
Tagged My City Rocks, the show which took place at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Suruelere, attracted a huge crowd of fun seekers.
Initially slated for Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, the show, which was shifted to the state-owned stadium was to start at about 10 a.m. but delayed till about noon, but the enthusaistic crowd waited patiently for the music stars, who went into their respective repertoire to dish out hits after hits to the delight of their fans including the governor himself.
It was flagged off by Mo’Chedah followed by O4kasibe crooner, DJ Zeez and P-Square, who thrilled the audience with the best of music.
Peace, a group of three kid female singers, also had a short but impressive performance as well as Fuji musician Saheed Osupa.
The high point of the event was when the governor arrived and Fimile, who was performing, went to the VIP stand to sing praises of Fashola, who responded by waving the broom, the symbol of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
Although the governor was unable to witness the early part of the show because he was engaged in another electioneering activity elsewhere, he quickly settled down on arrival at the venue of the show and began to absorb the rhythm of the beats.
He danced to the music of 9ice when the star mounted the stage to perform and in appreciation, the hip hop artiste went straight to the VIP stand to take a bow as he showered encomiums on Fashola by referring to him as Big, Reliable Father (BRF).
Darey, Whiz Kid and Weird MC performed before the event was rounded off at about 5.10 p.m. with 2face Idibia performing.
One unique thing about the show was that the hip hop music stars sang the praise of Fashola, especially 2face, who sang “ore mi Fashola ti de,†among others.
Speaking before the over 10,000 ACN supporters that avoured the show, the governor thanked the artistes for their support, promising not to disappoint them if voted back into office.
