The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi today challenged all the gubernatorial candidates of other political parties in the state to a public debate.
Amaechi, who threw the challenge while speaking at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign rally at the Bera School Field in Gokana local government area of the state, said he would attend the public debate with documents to prove every verifiable point.
“I ask for a public debate and I will come with documents. I have asked the people of Rivers State to assess me and ask me to give account from the day I started. I started October 26, 2007; hold me accountable for all my actions from thenâ€, he said.
The flag bearer, who is the incumbent Governor of Rivers State, said his administration has reduced the child-maternal mortality rate in the state through the building and equipping of modern primary health care centres in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
He said in Gokana alone, several primary healthcare centres have been completed with a medical doctor attached to each of them while the one at Nweol has just been awarded and would soon be completed.
Governor Amaechi said that all the health centres and modern primary schools are for the benefit of the people of the state and challenged his opponents to come forth and show what they did while they served in government.
Speaking at the occasion, the State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru said a vote for the PDP in the forthcoming April election was a vote for the total development of the state and urged the people to ensure they vote en-masse for Governor Amaechi and all PDP candidates during the polls
Also speaking, the State PDP Chairman, Chief Godspower Ake said the governor has deep interest in the development of Ogoni and has done so much for the area in the last four years he has been in office.
He called on the people to vote massively for Hon, Magnus Abe as the next Senator representing Rivers South-East Zone in the Senate, saying that the former Secretary to the State Governor will do well at the National Assembly.
Solidarity messages were presented at the rally by the Wife of the Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi, former SSG, Hon. Magnus Abe, Chief Sergeant Awuse, Chief Priscilia Vikue Dr. Magnus Kpakol and Justice Peter Akere (Rtd).
