The Lagos State government says the new excision reforms procedure on towns, villages, settlements and communities processing application will entrench proper titling of excised land in the state.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Land Matters and Chairman, Technical Committee on Excision, Mr. Aina Salami said â€œthe procedure is also to ensure that in the process of considering excision applications, the development planning of Lagos mega city is maintained.â€
He stated that applicants for excision and land speculators should not pre-empt the outcome of any excision application which members of the committee had considered as final, adding that approval of all pending excision applications would be given by Governor Babatunde Fashola as soon as the exercise was completed.
Salami added that the committee would soon issuing Certificate of Occupancy to successful applicants, disclosing that 316 towns, villages, settlements and communities out of the 503 which applied for excision had been inspected by the committee.
According to him, applications from the settlements on Ibeju-Lekki axis constituted 60 per cent of the entire applications while the remaining were from Epe, Ikorodu, Kosofe, Ogudu, Badagry and Ojo axis of the state. He assured applicants that the remaining communities yet to be inspected by the committee would be done by the end of this month.
