Unknown gunmen have shot dead an FRSC official at Njaba in Imo, a statement issued by the commission said on Monday.
The statement, signed by the Public Education Officer of the commission, Mr Nseobong Akpabio, said another officer who sustained serious injury during the shooting was receiving treatment.
It gave the name of the deceased as Francis Iwuji and the injured officer as Gregory Eze.
The statement said the officers were shot when their patrol team responded to a suspicious movement in a bush near their duty post.
It also said that the police in the state assured the public that the killers would be found.
The statement further said that the commission had stepped up modalities to ensure the safety and welfare of its staff.
