Africa’s finest, 2Face Idibia, in partnership with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC has teamed up to sustain the battle against the menace of fake and sub-standard food and drug products in Nigeria.
Unveiling this at a special media launch in Lagos yesterday, 2Face and NAFDAC have decided to use the power of music to reach the entire populace and pass on the message of the danger inherent in using fake or sub-standard drug and other products. This was done through a project, FASPAC, (Fake And Sub-standard Products Awareness Campaign).
2Face has recorded a theme song for the project. The single, Man Unkind, produced by award-winning beatmaker J.Sleek, and the accompanying video directed by Emma Gecko for Buckwyld media Network.
“The menace of fake drugs and sub-standard edible products is one evil every Nigerian has a responsibility to fight for obvious reasons. People involved in the trade are merchants of death and their targets are us-ourselves, family, friends, colleagues, neighbours and compatriots,†2Face told Showbiz Trends at the launch.
Dr Paul Orhii, the Director General, NAFDAC said about the artiste. “2Face has been known to be a socially responsible cultural icon that has the ears of millions of Nigerians from diverse demographical divides at home and abroad. As a result, and in a move to reach the populace from the top to the grassroots, the agency appointed the artiste as its ambassador.â€
2Face, whom we learnt did the endorsement for free, also played an active role as a celebrity endorser alongside General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) in earning Nigeria a WHO guinea-worm free certification.
