Police Foil Robbery Attack On Foreigners

The Lagos State Police Command says it has smashed a gang which specialised in robbing foreign nationals in Apapa.

A spokesperson for the command, Mrs. Patricia Idahosa-Amadin, disclosed this on Monday in Ikeja while parading the suspects before newsmen.

She said the gang, which was allegedly armed with some dangerous weapons, was nabbed while attempting to rob a foreign national.

“The gang is notorious for robbing expatriates in the Apapa area of Lagos. The suspects had successfully robbed an expatriate, but were foiled by his wife.

“One of the suspects jumped the three-storey where the robbery took place in an escape bid and broke his spinal cord,” Idahosa-Amadin said.

She said items recovered from the suspects include a laptop, handsets and an undisclosed amount of money.

Idahosa-Amadin also disclosed that four suspected members of two rival cult groups were also arrested at a club house in Apapa on March 18.

“A fight had earlier broken out between the two groups on Thursday which led to a reprisal on Friday, where the suspects were arrested at Pop Club, Apapa.

“The two groups — Eiye and Black Axe – had a bloody clash, but there were no casualties,” she told newsmen.
