The National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Obalende branch, Eti-Osa, Ikoyi, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, has disassociated its members from the attempt by anybody or group of people to use them to foment trouble during the coming general elections, saying its members are democrats, responsible and disciplined.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS at their office, the branch secretary of Obalende NURTW, Comrade Austin Azu Oko described the report in one of the national newspapers, that the PDP wants to use members of the Obalende NURTW to foment trouble in the April election, as misleading because the respected ACN leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, did not say what they quoted him to have said.
He said: “What Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu said at the Skypower Ground rally at Ikeja on Saturday before the journalists was that the PDP chieftains are planning to incite members of the NURTW in Lagos State to scuttle the coming elections and not Obalende NURTW branch as wrongly reported by the newspaper.
“We have no history of violence and we can never be associated with violence and anybody that tries to use Obalende NURTW members would be exposed, because we are solidly behind the Jagaban of Bornu Kingdom, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and the Chairman of NURTW, Lagos State, Alhaji Akanni Olohunwa for the success of the elections.â€
In his comment, the branch chairman, Comrade Femi Obasanya Akaobele, said nobody can plan evil against our leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu. “Anybody or groups that plan evil against him would fail because he stands for the poor masses.â€
