5 Die In Auto Crash

At least five persons were feared dead in an auto crash that occurred this morning near Pleasure bus stop along the Lagos/Abeokuta expressway, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

Although a policeman at the scene of the accident claimed that no life was lost, eyewitnesses insisted that at least five to eight persons died in the crash. But the cop admitted that a few people sustained injuries in the crash.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the accident, which involved five vehicles, occurred at about 6.30 this morning.

An eye witness stated that the crash occurred when a truck conveying flour which was on a top speed tried to avoid another truck that was trying to enter the expressway from an illegal park. In trying to do so, the second truck hit two commuter buses and another truck parked along the road.

When P.M.NEWS got to the scene this morning, both the dead and injured victims had been evacuated from the scene. But the two trucks involved it the accident were severely mangled. The two commercial mini-buses also suffered the same fate. Blood of the victims splashed the scene of the accident.

Another eyewitness said a lady victim sustained serious cuts on parts of her body.

She was later moved to a nearby private hospital.

Traffic flow towards Abule Egba/Agbado axis of the road was obstructed for several hours. Commuters were forced to drop off from commuter buses and treked to their destinations.

Towing vehicles later arrived the scene to remove the vehicles involved in the crash from the road which later eased traffic flow.
