Gov. Race: Jakande Endorses Fashola
First civilian Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande says he wants Governor Babatunde Fashola re-elected for a second term rather than the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Ade Dosunmu taking over in the state.

Jakande spoke at the First Quarterly Prayer for Lagos State and Peaceful conduct of the 2011 election organized by the All Christian Leader/Ministers Forum in Ketu, Lagos, South West Nigeria.
Jakande said he would never support the candidacy of Dosunmu since he would never transform Lagos like Fashola had done and that moreover, he is from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
According to Jakande, Lagos is working and Fashola has transformed the state to an enviable position that has earned him a second term ticket to continue with the transformation of Lagos.
The former governor said history would ever remember Fashola for the great works he had done as governor of the most populous state in the federation.
He added that Fashola had justified the first term ticket given to him and needed to be supported by everyone, adding that “I will support Fashola rather than Dosunmu of the PDP.â€
Also speaking, the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN House of Representatives candidate for Somolu Federal Constituency, Mr. Deji Jakande said his vision was to empower the youths in his area and ensure that they live meaningful life.
“The youths are my focus. I want to empower them and alleviate them from poverty. When they are kept busy, you are going to have less miscreants on the streets,†he said.
He stated that when he wins the election, he would advocate the listing of the 37 Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs created by Lagos during tenure of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the constitution so that they would become full fledged Local Government.
Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor, Dr. Sam Ogedengbe said the special prayers for Lagos was to ensure that there was peaceful election next month, saying that he was sure that the polls would be free and fair.
“We have a vision to pray for the aspirants and pray for the government so that we can forge ahead. We believe if people who have the fear of God are elected, there will be peace in the state. We want to pray and nullify anything that has to do with bloodshed at the forthcoming polls,†he said.
The General Overseer, Faith In Christ Bible Church International, Pastor Samuel Okunola said since Lagos is working, there was the need for Christians to vote in the right person so that the transformation in the state would not dwindle.
“There has been peace in Lagos State whereas we have bloodshed in some states. Lagos is peaceful and is working and will continue to work. Jakande laid the foundation and others will build on it. Lagos is now a model. When it is time to choose our leaders, you know who to choose,†he stated.
