Lagos Cricket Tourney: Asian Team Beat Ibeju Lekki

It was only ten wickets that Lagos Asians Cricket Club needed to send warning signal to other contenders for the 2011 Lagos/GT Assur T/20 as they walloped their quarter final opponents, Ibeji Lekki Cricket Club.

The victory over Ibeji Lekki would definitely be noted by Government College, Ibadan Old Boys Cricket Club, who have been drawn to meet the Asians in the semi-final of the exciting tournament.

Winning the toss, Ibeju elected to bat first. They were bowled out for 83 runs in 15 overs with Manish taking three wickets for 14 runs in four overs.

He was ably assisted by Jay Golsalkar, who got two wickets for 20 runs after three overs. Three brilliant run outs also accounted for the Ibeji wickets.

Chasing 83 runs in 29 overs, captain of the Lagos Asians, Ricky Sharma opened the batting with Golsalkar who both shared 77 runs.

Golsalkar put up an impressive 55 runs not out while Sharma scored 22 runs with nine extras.

The pair combined effectively to hit the required total in 12 overs and the match was over.

Government College, Ibadan Old Boys Cricket Club, who qualified last week will now  face the in form Asians.

Meanwhile, Lagos State Cricket Association, LSCA is concluding arrangement to host an Easter Fiesta for students and pupils for cricket–playing kids.

If the plans go as scheduled, LSCA will organise a coaching clinic for primary and secondary children from selected schools in the State. Rising from a meeting of the association at the weekend, the technical assistant of the association, Endurance Ofem was directed to draw up a workable plan that would see the event take place during the long holiday.
