Multichoice Grooms Nigerian Journalists

As part of its social responsibility to the Nigerian society, MultiChoice recently held a media workshop aimed at grooming and sharpening the skills of Nigerian journalists.

The two-day workshop, which was held at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos last weekend saw various resource persons taking on Nigerian media men and women on the basic things that would make their works win laurels.

Speakers like Dr. Tonnie Iredia, former Director General of Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika of Department of Mass Communications, University of Lagos, UNILAG, Tunde Laniyan, a media consultant, Dr. Isah Momoh of the Kwara State University, Ikechukwu Amarchi, Editor, Independent Newspapers, Jahman Anikulapo, Editor, Sunday Guardian and Gbile Osadipe, Lecturer, Nigerian Institute of Journalism, NIJ, all spoke on techniques a journalist can explore to be considered for the CNN awards and even beat other contestants to the award.

Speaking on the motive behind the workshop, Mrs. Elizabeth Amkpa, Head of Sales, MultiChoice Nigeria, said that the resource persons for the event were carefully chosen to broaden the skills and knowledge of the participants on journalism.

According to her, “we want to see more Nigerian journalists winning the CNN awards and we believe this can happen if the journalists are armed with the basic ingredients that can enable them attain the goal. I want to assure that MultiChoice will continue to partner with the Nigerian media to project the good initiatives of the Nigerian society,” she said.
