Dosumu Is Deceiving Lagosians

Olukayode Salako, the President of Fasholamania Support Movement Worldwide, a group campaigning for Fashola’s second term in office, speaks on the chances of other parties against the incumbent government in Lagos State in the forthcoming elections

Fasholamania was founded  to support Governor Fashola’s bid to get the second term ticket of the  Action Congress of Nigeria. Now that you have achieved that, what next?

Fasholamania is not only a platform to agitate for the continuity of governor Fashola in power alone. The association by God’s grace  would see the state governor to the presidency in the nearest future.

Nigerians deserve someone like Governor  Fashola to lead them not only in  Lagos State but at the federal level. Anybody that successfully governed Lagos State can definitely govern the country very well.

I think God sent governor Fashola to come  and help us solve the problems of Lagos State, so that  when he gets to the Federal level, he would have less job to do.If Lagos State is prospering that means Nigeria is doing well.

The main objective of the movement is to create an institution that will support, encourage and appreciate governor Fashola until he becomes the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. His government within an amazing period of  time has given Lagos State security, peace, law and order and above all, a much improved socio- economic society.

How would you access the campaign strategies of  various political parties towards the forthcoming  governorship election in Lagos State?

I have listened to the campaign messages of all  the governorship candidates  and I can tell you that the only person that is  campaigning in the way he  should is still the incumbent governor of the state.

You see, the candidate  of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Wahab Ade Dosumu disappointed me.  As an intellectual and  experienced man, I  expected  his  campaign  messages to be based on real issues, like how he will  improve on  the efforts of the incumbent governor of Lagos State. Instead, he has been going around campaigning against  the governor that he has not done anything good in the state. .

Everybody knows governor Fashola has changed the story of Lagos State.  Even Barrack Obama, the President of the United State of America and  Nigerians in diasporatalked about it

Professor Wole Soyinka, Professor Pat Utomi and  even the former President  Obasanjo have openly come out to say that the government of governor Fashola is doing well.
People a believe  you are clamouring for governor Fashola because he is  ponsoring your movement..

No, that is not correct. Fasholamania is an independent platform that is clamouring for the continuity of the current administration of the state.  It is a platform created by concerned Lagosians. It is not sponsored by the government. It is a platform  for people, who are not politicians,  civil servants or government contractors.

We are just concerned Lagosians  who appreciate what th government is doing. What we should do now is to stop praising bad governance.

You claimed not to be a politician or an activist, why are you at the vanguard of this agitation?

I have always been concerned   about the state of our society. I always look forward to a  day when I can really witness an acceptable, outstanding and rewarding leadership.

Honestly, the first time I got to U.K and Johannesburg in South Africa, I was emotionally sick because of the man-made wonders I saw everywhere. Everything was  well organised, beautiful, perfect, and modern- just name it! But here, the reverse is the case.  But, Fashola’s  government  impressed me so much  and  I  decided to be part of the people  celebrating it.

ACN has about five states under its control, including Ekiti and Osun. What is the implication of this in the forthcoming elections?

I have always said that the  ACN is the only progressive party in Nigeria today, because of the quality of its leadership its manifesto and the outstanding performance of its governors. The best set of decent and progressively-minded politicians today in Nigeria are in ACN.  Any state ACN is governing today is very lucky.
