Ayoola Ahmed, who represents Lagos Island Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, on Monday, narrowly escaped death.
LG Circuit gathered that the lawmaker was said to have been stopped by some unidentified gunmen while returning from a meeting of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in his constituency but was saved by his driver from imminent untimely death.
According to a source, the men were trailing Ahmed in a car and asked his driver to stop or else they would shoot him but the driver was said to have refused and used his initiative to outsmart the suspected assailants.
Confirming the incident, Ahmed, who was denied a return ticket to the state House of Assembly during the ACN’s primaries recently, thanked God for everything, while saying that he is still committed to the party and will continue to work for its progress at all levels.
“Despite the fact that I was denied ticket for a second term, I am still loyal to the Action Congress of Nigeria and will not leave the party for another as suggested by some people because I so much believe in ACN,†he told LG Circuit on telephone yesterday.
