A middle aged man popularly called Baba Femi has been arrested by the police in Oko- Oba, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

The arrest of Baba Femi was over a complaint by one Mr. Joseph Nyong that the suspect and others at large forcefully broke into his apartment located at 14, Karonwi Street, Abule Egba and damaged his property and stole cash and other valuables.

Items Mr. Joseph Nyong claimed were missing in his house  include one laptop valued N110,000, Nokia 760 handset valued N18,000, Seiko Wrist watch valued N5,000 and N260,000 which he claimed was to be used to secure another accommodation.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS, Nyong said he rented the apartment from Mama Femi, the owner of the hose and that he did not know Baba Femi. He said he had an agreement with the landlady, Mama Femi, to park out at the end of March, 2011 and that instead of allowing the period of the agreement to elapse before taking action, Baba Femi resorted to self-help by breaking into his apartment in his absence.

“We have  a problem of drainage in the compound and the landlady said we should all park out. She has refused to give us quit notice.  There was even no court summon, yet Baba Femi came to my apartment the time he knows that I will not be at home and vandalised my property and also stole my money and other valuables. I want the police to charge him to court so that he will learn a lesson.”

When P.M.NEWS visited Oko-Oba Police Station, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Mr. Omole Ola, SP, was said to have gone on routine patrol but a police source told P.M.NEWS that the case is under investigation as Baba Femi has been told to stop harassing Joseph Nyong, pending the outcome of the investigations.
