Ajasin’s Daughter Raises Alarm Over Kidnap Plot
Ondo State Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Mrs. Olajumoke Anifowoshe has raised an alarm over plot to abduct her by chieftains of the Labour Party in Ondo State.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS this morning on phone, Anifowoshe who was on her way to Lagos, said she learnt from a top member of the party in the state that chieftains of the Labour Party had concluded plans to abduct her and render her incommunicado to members of the party, until the elections are over.
She disclosed that the decision to kidnap her was reached at a meeting of chieftains of Labour Party which started late yesterday and ended in the early hours of today.
“These people have been threatening to kidnap ACN candidates because of the growing popularity of the party in the state. Many members of Labour Party and their leaders recently defected to the ACN. They include Dr. Olu Agunloye and Dr. Mimiko’s former Commisioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa of Ile Oluji Okeigbo axis of the state.
“Following this threat, many of our candidates no longer sleep in their houses but in hotels to avoid being kidnapped.
“Their thinking is that if they take me out of circulation during the elections, members of our party will not be able to get into contact with me and this will give them opportunity to rig the elections,†she stated.
She said this was how they kidnapped the party’s candidate for the federal constituency in Akoko Northwest and Akoko Northeast, Bunmi Tunji Ojo, a week ago.
She disclosed that she had alerted the Inspector-General of Police through a text message on the plan, adding that she is yet to contact the state Commissioner of Police because she doesn’t have his phone number.
The alarm raised by Anifowoshe is coming on the heels of recent altercations between the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and billionaire businessman, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim.
The latter had accused the governor, who is the leader of the Labour Party in the state, of being behind the kidnap of his mother, an accusation the governor denied.
The old woman was released on Monday by her abductors after the payment of an undisclosed ransom.
Just yesterday, Ibrahim vowed to make the state ungovernable for Mimiko when they met at the Akure Airport.
