The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), has put necessary strategies in place to ensure that the environment is kept clean during the forthcoming election.
In a release issued by Mrs. Folashade Kadiri, Public Relations Officer of the agency, the Managing Director, Mr. Ola Oresanya, said officials of the agency will be active as ever while still ensuring that workers vote for candidates of their choice.
Oresanya said LAWMA would not hide under the guise of restriction of movement during the exercise and shy away from its statutory responsibility of ensuring a cleaner Lagos environment.
He said although his organisation is rendering an essential duty to the society, as a responsible government agency, LAWMA would not violate the restriction of movement order during the elections.
He disclosed that sweeping activities will commence immediately after voting exercise and that street sweeping activities will be done at night at the end of the election and appealed to motorist to drive carefully and be cautious of the street sweepers, who will be working late on the day before election.
The LAWMA boss also disclosed that PSP operators have been mandated to get to residences no matter how late, while appealing to residents to accord the operators all the assistance needed as they will be coming late to their neighbourhood.
He charged residents to ensure proper containerisation of their waste and cooperate with the PSP operators and street sweepers in the quest for a cleaner and healthier Lagos environment.
