Schools Tourney: Red House Dust ’Em

Athletes of Red House were at their best as they dusted other houses to win the 7th Inter House Sports Championship of Fitjoy Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools, Agege, Lagos, Nigeria.

Coming from 4th position in the 2009 edition of the schools sports, Red House defied all odds to  win the trophy of the 2011 tournament held at Ile Pako playground, off Amoo Street, Agege.

The house won 14 gold, 15 silver and 9 bronze medals. Blue House clinched the second position with 11 gold, 13 silver and 9 bronze medals. In the third position were Yellow House with 10 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze medals, while Green House came fourth with 9 gold, 9 silver and 15 bronze medals.

While applauding the participating athletes for their performance, the proprietress of the school, Mrs. Oluwafunmilayo Oyeyinka, said the winning House deserved the feat.

She said that the schools’ management recognised the need for students to take sports seriously  along side their academic.

According to her, “Fitjoy Schools see sports as activities that promote good health as they enhance mental alertness of the students. We also recognise the need for our students to engage in one sports as they make progress in their academic pursuits.”

Other events that added glamour to the Inter House Sports were the invitational relay race for boys and girls, staff race  as well as parent race.
