Akala Tasks Electorate
Ahead the general elections in Nigeria, Oyo State Government has warned its people to adhere strictly to the instructions of the law enforcement agencies during the polls in order to ensure peace and security.
Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala who gave this warning yesterday in a special broadcast, said that there would not be vehicular movement by anybody no matter how highly placed in the society.
He noted that those that could move on the roads with cars are security people and INEC officials or anyone accredited by INEC for the monitoring of the election.
Akala further urged the residents of Oyo State to desist from making provocative utterances during the election, saying that everyone should prevent anything that would cause crisis in the state.
He assured that his government would work with INEC and security agencies to ensure that there is credible election in the state, stressing that security agencies are fully ready for the election.
Urging the citizens who duly registered for the election to turn out en masse and vote at the polling units where they registered, he said: “Please, go out and cast your votes for your preferred candidates and don’t usurp the job of the security personnel.â€
In the broadcast, Governor Akala commended religious leaders in the state for the role played in ensuring peace in the state, saying that religious leaders were solidly behind his government because they preach peace daily.
