Amuwo Residents Plan Easter Fiesta

Residents of Amuwo Odofin and their counterparts throughout Lagos State, will converge on the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Secretariat in FESTAC Town, Lagos, to enjoy in a memorable setting of fanfare, colour and local music during Easter.

The event, according to Dr. Efunbo Dosekun, Chief Medical Director, Outreach Children’s Hospital, FESTAC Town, will be a unique opportunity for jumbo sales of new or unwanted goods at extremely discounted prices. The event would also provide a section for a food fair brought in from rural areas which would create opportunities for financial empowerment to the rural populace together with the purchase of inexpensive foodstuffs by urban dwellers.

The funds realised during the fair, according to Doseku, will be used to subsidise patients on emergency cases that cannot afford medical bills.

The renowned paediatrician added that a jaundice awareness campaign, which is her brainchild is being set up with other stakeholders, will be flagged off at the event’s venue, stressing that to make the campaign a huge success, funds would be raised at the forum.

“Fortunately for us, we are raising funds to procure very standard equipment which is less than $3,000 for the screening of jaundice in children in the simplest way,” Dosekun disclosed.

While speaking on jaundice in the new born, Dosekun said: “When there is a great problem, you have to start tackling it with the simplest one. We must make it within our system to educate the populace, mainly the mothers and grandmothers on the dangers of jaundice.

“When somebody knows something is dangerous, he will now start taking steps to make sure he is not exposed to such danger. That is why we are organising the Jaundice Awareness Campaign because our children are our future,” she noted.

While commending Comrade Ayodele Adewale, Executive Chairman, Amuwo Odofin Local Government for the full fledged support given to the programme, he assured that “Children at the event would have a nice time at the fiesta.
