Saturday Elections: ‘ACN Ready For Riggers’
The National Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said that the party is ready for anyone planning to rig Saturday’s National Assembly polls.
The governor emeritus, who was addressing party supporters at the ACN rally recently, said votes must count come Saturday.
He said Saturday’s election was very crucial to the entire 2011 polls as it is the foundation election.
“Saturday’s election is an indication of what may likely happen with subsequent polls.â€
Tinubu urged the supporters and Nigerians to be patient for the polls as well as record and follow results to the next stage at the polls.
“Take with you your food, water and other requirements and if you can fast, do so but let us ensure that the votes count,†he said.
He further said: “Those planning to cause trouble at the polls will do so as a form of distraction to enable them manipulate the polls.
“No matter the circumstance, stay at your posts and do not join the fights. Our mission is to protect the votes so that Nigerians will know we won convincingly,†he said.
The ACN leader urged the youths to volunteer as agents of the party for the polls beginning from Saturday.
“Your future as youths is in the development of this country and this can only happen with the voting in of credible leaders,†he opined.
It would be recalled that Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, fixed 2 April for the Senate and House of Representatives elections, while the presidential, governorship and House of Assembly elections are to hold on 9 and 16 April respectively.
