Elections have been cancelled in Edo, Delta states and Nigeria’s capital of Abuja, the election umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission has announced.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported this this morning.
There was also a report that voting has been suspended in a senatorial district of Cross River state and the Ekiti Central Senatorial district, where journalist Babafemi Ojudu and former governor of the state, Ayo Fayose are the star runners for the seat. Ojudu is representing the Action Congress of Nigeria, while Fayose is holding the flag of the Labour Party.
Logistics problems may have accounted for the postponement of polls in all these areas.
In Otueke, Bayelsa state, President Goodluck Jonathan was unable to get accreditation to cast his vote as the INEC officials still failed to show up by 11.10 a.m. Governor Rotimi Amaechi did not also show up in his village of Ubima as INEC officials were absent up till 11.30 am
