Man Arrested For Breaking Co-Tenant’s Head

The police in Oko-Oba Division in Lagos State, South West Nigeria, have arrested a middle-aged man, Onyeolu Sunday, who allegedly assaulted Mr. Kufre Ekanem, a co-tenant to one Miss Helen.

The victim, Ekanem, said Helen had attacked him on several occasions and that she once poured acid on him.

On the day of the incident, Ekanem said he was in his room when some people came to tell him that his attention was needed outside. He went out and a group of three men attacked him, adding that Helen, his co-tenant was the one who invited them.

“Helen started to beat me. They said I always disturb their sister. They broke my head with sticks,” he narrated his ordeal to the police.

While the victim was being assaulted, Onyeolu Sunday ran to Oko-Oba Police Station to report a case of assault as his body was soaked with blood.

The police suspected foul play as there was no injury in his body, but sent one officer to arrest the suspect.

However, Ekanem the suspect, was able to escape from the attackers and ran to the same Oko-Oba Police Station with a broken head.

The police subsequently gave him a medical paper to go for treatment first as he was bleeding profusely from his head.

When Onyeolu Sunday came back, he was arrested and detained.

P.M. NEWS learnt that Helen has been pleading with Kufre not to allow the case to go to court as she was ready to settle the medical bills as well as write an undertaking not to foment trouble any more.

However, Ekanem has confirmed that the traditional ruler (baale) of the area has waded into the matter.
