Thieves Burgle Redeemed Church

Thieves have burgled the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Egan, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

They carted away church property worth millions of naira.

The thieves were alleged to have broken into the church after service and made away with the items found in the church auditorium.

Among items they stole include ceiling fans, standing fans, amplifier, keyboard and other expensive musical equipment.

When P.M.NEWS visited the church at 10, Ajamgbadi Street, Egan, Lagos State, the pastor of the church was not around to confirm the incident but some of the church members confirmed the incident and told P.M.NEWS that the pastor had gone to the police station at Igando to report the incident.

When our reporter visited the station, a police source said one of the suspects called Boniface Sunday had been arrested.

According to the police source, Boniface was caught in an uncompleted building when he hid some of the stolen items. The items recovered from him are Proel amplifier and keyboard belonging to the church.

He has been charged to Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court where he is now facing trial for stealing while others were said to be at large.

The matter has been adjourned till 6 April, 2011.
