The All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) candidate for the House of Representatives in Lagos Island Federal Constituency 1, Alhaji Yemisi Coker, has defected to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
Coker hinged his decision on pressures from community leaders in the area and that of ACN leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that he would intimate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on his intension to withdraw from the race while also conveying his new political decision to the leadership of ANPP.
The former vice chairman of Lagos Island Local Government disclosed to P.M. NEWS that Tinubu sent for him and it was after their meeting that he agreed to withdraw from the race and join ACN.
He explained that he has no option than to succumb to Asiwaju’s wish, who he described as a respected political figure in the country, especially the South West and therefore could not say no to him.
He enjoined his supporters to vote en masse for all ACN candidates during the elections.
Tinubu had, at an ACN campaign held in Oluwole area of Lagos Island last week, described Coker as his cousin and that he would visit him at home over his membership of ANPP.
