Chairman of Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Adedayo Samuel Adesola, has called on the electorate in the country to accept the cancellation of Saturday’s National Assembly election in good faith and not crucify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega.
Adedayo noted that if the INEC boss did not take the decision, it could have set the country back on her democratisation journey and therefore called on the people to turn out in large numbers and cast their votes in the rescheduled elections so as to effect the long desired positive change.
“We cannot blame Jega for the suspension of the election. For coming out to tender an apology to all Nigerians is worthy of appreciation because if he had allowed the election to go on, the story would have been different by now.
“He has promised us free and fair election, so let us wait and give him a second chance.
“My advice to all Nigerians is that they should all go out and cast their votes on Saturday and during subsequent elections,†he said.
The council chairman also called on Lagosians to vote en masse for Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidates in the state so that the development recorded by the party in the state would continue.
